May has been another crazy month for me but as you will have noticed if you watched/read my haul I went a bit NYX crazy! So this one is dedicated to NYX; as usual I have been loving the nude lips but also surprising a pink lip too. The NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Cannes and London are my absolute favourites this month!
As you will have seen in my Summer Prep post, I have whipped out the exfoliators once more. As well as my usuals, I have also been trying out the Simply Beautiful Collection Body Scrub and Body Butter to mix up my usual skin routine.
The exfoliator is great it not only gets all that dead skin off but it also really nourishes at the same time! I didn’t feel like my legs were dying for moisture, which can happen with some other exfoliators. I just use an exfoliating mitt with any body scrub to make sure everything is lovely and soft!
I also really liked this moisturiser, it is a little hard to get out of the tub and i’m not sure I like just dipping my fingers into the tub, but if you can get passed all that, it is lovely on the skin. It sunk into my skin really well and didn’t leave a really greasy residue behind. Like the Body Scrub, it smells beautiful and is a subtle scent which is great for someone like me who is easily affected by strong scents.
Overall, I really like both products. The body scrub I would definitely buy again because in my book it does everything (and more) that a body scrub should do.
Have you tried these products? What did you think?
I have worked in PR for a little while now and when you are new to the industry it can be quite overwhelming. I found that if I lived by the following three rules I managed to not only have a good work/life balance but also didn’t feel so stressed out.
Meet someone new every week
PR can be a very social career if you want it to be. You can meet new people all the time, I think the important thing is to meet new people but also follow up on that initial meeting. It is all about contacts in this industry so building on existing contacts is just as important as making new ones.
Focus on one thing at a time
Although multi-tasking can be good sometimes, in PR you get task after task thrown at you. You need to learn to prioritse a bunch of tasks that are classed as priority. I always find that if I dip in and out of tasks it not only takes longer but they aren’t completed to the best of my ability. Is this something other people find?
Make time for life
I love my job which sometimes makes it hard to switch off. Since starting at my new company I have made a point of making time for life, whether that be friends, family or my boyfriend. It’s difficult, don’t get me wrong, especially when I can’t stop thinking about a looming deadline but even if its one day a week that’s better than nothing!
It’s been a while since I have had a good old fashioned shopping spree so lately I have been going a little crazy. I have done a video with some of the products and a little chat through but I didn’t want to have a video lasting 30 minutes so I thought I would pop the majority on here! Let’s get to it!
NYX has recently come in to Boots (hallelujah!) so I went a little mad.
It’s something a little different on the blog today… Pure Chimp Super Tea * were lovely enough to send me some Mint Matcha Green Tea tea to try; I chose to have the mint flavour as I had never tried it before so I thought it was probably best to ease myself in to it!
What is Matcha?
Simply put Matcha is green tea, specially grown, ground into a fine powder. Instead of infusing water with the green tea leaves you are drinking them!
Boosts metabolism and burns calories
packed with antioxidants including EGCg
Rich in fibre, chlorophyll and vitamins
Lowers Cholesterol & blood sugar
1 cup = 10 cups of brewed green tea
Matcha does contain caffeine
You can incorporate it into meals
Matcha means ‘powered tea’
Traditionally the activity of drinking it would involve meditation
I was unsure at first but the more I drank it the more I liked it. You simply put a little bit of powder in a mug and add hot water, stir and you are done! I also tried it with almond milk; I actually preferred it with a little bit of View Post
The weather is warming up and it is making me think of the days that are ahead with sunshine and beer gardens, and with all that comes showing more skin! Here are the items I use to quickly get summer ready!
Get rid of the hair
Gillette Venus Snap Women’s Portable Razor This little thing is seriously the best razor I have ever bought. It’s easy to take with you when travelling and it doesn’t tear your legs apart like other disposable razors do! I tend to shave because waxing takes way too much time but if I am going to wax I will either use Nair and Veet wax strips as they are the best two brands in my eyes.
The Body Shop Strawberry Body Polish is my favourite exfoliator not only does it do the job but it smells delicious. It’s not so abrasive that it hurts so that is always amazing. If this one isn’t for you, a new discovery of mine is the Manuka Honey & Orange Blossom Body Scrub. It is really moisturising as well as a great exfoliator so you don’t feel like you are scratching all your skin away. I would definitely recommend this especially if your skin is typically dry.
To help with exfoliating I usually use Exfoliating Gloves. I’m not picky and usually just grab some really cheap ones from Poundland or Primark! They last just as long and do the job like any other exfoliating glove/mitt would.
I don’t really have a ‘favourite’ moisturiser, I have a few that I will always switch between. My newest one is the HealGel Body; it is so lightweight and really moisturising. The texture takes a little bit of getting used to but it is really good. I also love Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion, again it is lightweight and sinks into the skin really well. This is the one I tend to go back to regularly as it isn’t ‘season specific’ like most moisturisers.
In aid of getting Summer ready I have a little competition running so do the following to win some essentials.
